May is well on it 's way and it is with renewed wonder that we watch the leaves unfold and the perennials blossom yet again! Here at the Oasis we are busy as well making creativity bloom.

We know that this is a big gift giving time of year and hope that you will think of us when thinking of something original and beautiful to offer. We are happy to make a mosaic mirror or your color choice which makes a great wedding gift, a picture frame for the graduate, or a special pair of earrings.The possibilities are endless so come in to visit our store for more ideas.

Teens entering 6th grade and up… we have reserved the week of June 27th from 1 to 4pm just for you. Come in to make a gift, room accent or a piece of fine art for a college portfolio. Each session $35.

April is a time of rebirth and new beginnings! Why not start off this beautiful season with a new mosaic project? March means that Spring is on the way and especially now that the clocks have moved ahead, the days grow longer and lighter. Here at the Oasis we have some fun ways to launch you into this lovely season. Read on for more info…  

"Ornamental Accents For the Garden or yard"... join us on Thursday, March 24th and Friday, March 25th for our first Spring event. Cost $75 includes all materials . This workshop will be held on two consecutive evenings from 6:30 TO 9:30 pm and then come back to grout at your convenience or do it at home. We will focus on proper surface preparation and material for an outdoor mosaic project. No prior experience needed. And of course you are welcome to bring along some of your own favorite material to add to your piece.

For many of us February brings the winter doldrums and with it longings for gentle Spring days. The good news is that it is the shortest month of the year and the days are visibly getting longer. For others, February is all about celebrating LOVE with Valentines Day right in the middle of the month. We think LOVE is for every month but by all means, think of us if you are looking for a unique Valentine's Day gift. We carry mosaic heart pendants, several heart shaped mirrors that you can make or give as a gift for your mosaic making sweetheart to do for his/herself, a gift certificate towards a class or anything in the studio, or for other finished mosaic art and jewelry. All are a great way to say "I love you" to a special person in your life!

Our Mosaic Design Classes are off to a good start. If making a mosaic fine art panel appeals to you, keep an eye out for out next session starting in March through the Arlington Community Education at www.ArlingonComminityEd.com. This is a hands on mosaic class in which we will delve into the history of mosaics, precision cutting techniques, color, design,  materials including adhesives, bases and of course, various tiles (tesserae) used in making mosaics.

Mosaics at the Oasis is off to a good start! People are  focused  now that the holidays have passed and some "down" time has replenished the body and soul. Now is a good time to get back to some relaxing creativity and mosaics is the perfect medium to do this.

Starting on Saturday January 22nd we will be begin another session of our Mosaic Art Design class. This is a 5 week session on 5 consecutive Saturdays form January 22nd through February 19th from 10 am to 1 pm. Open to all levels. We are flexible if you are unable to attend a class and will find an alternative time for you to work on your project in the Studio. Space is still open.

Friday nights at the Oasis…. by popular demand, we will continue to be open most Friday evenings for mosaic making and good conversation and other savories. Give a call to let us know you would like to join us for some mosaic therapy!

We can always dream about sand, and sun, and palm trees swishing in the warm wind even when it is cold, snowy January outside!!  Come in to the Oasis to get out of the cold, it is always warm in our studio!!  It is a New Year and you deserve some time to find the artist within…….check out our classes page and find a class that fits your schedule and your budget!!  Classes are filling up so call us soon!!  It is not too soon to be thinking about spring, a table like this would look great in your back garden!

December is here and you know what that means… The Oasis has been hopping with many of you coming in to finish or start your holiday mosaic gifts. It has been very spirited and fun with creative juices flowing everywhere. It is becoming infectious!!

Besides our regular great holiday gifts of mosaic jewelry, trivets, vases, mirrors and other finished art, we also have some holiday specials. For the 2-6 year olds in your circle, we now have two wonderful books for under $9 each." Mosaic Zoo an ABC Reader" and " The Girls and Boys of Mother Goose" are signed by mosaic artist Barbara Benson Keith and are great examples of mosaic works especially for the children.
 
On Friday, December 10th we have one more Jewelry workshop which is filling up fast! Call to register for this fun event. $50 to create your own pair of earrings and a pendant! Walk away with a beautiful jewelry combo which you have learned to make! Join us for one more Friday evening on the 17th before the xmas holiday to finish up your projects and share a glass of wine and some fun company.
